Seoul Love

Last Friday Mike and I took a trip up to Seoul to check out N Seoul Tower. The tower is atop Namsan Mountain and stands 236.7 meters tall. Because we were running short on time we chose to ride up in a cable car rather than hike. 

The observation area gave you a 360 view of Seoul. It was lit up as far as we could see with a few blackouts for rivers and mountains.

There's an area of fencing that couples hang padlocks from to show their eternal love for each other. The fences can no longer be seen as there are layers of padlocks hanging from them. These lock-covered trees were on a lower level.

We knew about the tradition and Mike even remembered to bring one along so we could join in! Of course he needed an action shot of me hanging it. :)

These benches were all around Seoul Tower. I guess after tossing the key to the padlock you want to be close to your forever love! We saw all sorts of people posing making hearts with the arms and hands.

The next day we decided to do some hiking and sight-seeing. This was the view from our hotel window. The traffic never stopped!

After meandering through a farmers market that rivaled Madison's in size, we walked along Cheonggyecheon Stream. It's uniqueness comes from being set more than 15 feet below street level. It is surprisingly peaceful. There are features added in in spots to help make rippling sounds, waterfalls added, and lots of pretty foliage to look at. There were also plenty of benches and spots that had stairs leading down to the water. If we lived in Seoul I imagine we'd spend a lot of time enjoying that big stretch of land.

Our day also included exploring the largest palace in Seoul (pictures to come later) and a show called Cookin' Nanta. The show was a non-verbal comedy that had five characters who had to prepare a wedding banquet in an hour. It was a great show that kept us entertained with their music, cooking utensils, real food, singing, audience participation, acrobatics, etc etc. 

Yup, one of the characters is 'Sexy Guy'
